"Chief, why do you have to move? We can work on this. I promise," Jim pleaded.

"Jim, you think you can fix it, but you can't. You're heart is cold. It's not your fault, but I can't try and fix it anymore."

"Please don't leave me."

"Jim, it won't work." Blair was heartbroken also.

"Explain what is wrong."

"You told me that we would be out. We would be able to tell our friends about our relationship. But instead we stay at home so that no one will see us. I can't do it anymore."

"Chief, please don't leave me." Jim sounded more than heartbroken. "I promise I'll try and make things better. Can't we take baby steps?"

"I said I would try. Give me a chance," Jim begged.

"I'm leaving now. I'll still continue working with you, but we will not see each other socially." Blair grabbed his bags and walked out the door. When he got down to his car he wiped the tears off of his face.

When Blair had packed that morning, he really thought maybe there was hope. But the more he thought about it, he realized there was none. He wished Jim could love him, like Blair loved Jim. Sometimes life is like that. You never get anyone that loves you enough or won't hurt you.

Across town Jim sat upstairs wondering how life could go on without Blair. He knew the answer to that. He just couldn't give him enough. There was nothing to do or say. He picked up his gun and with tears rolling down his face, pulled the trigger.

When Simon was called to the Loft, he read the letter first.

Dear Blair,

I wanted to say goodbye and tell you how much
I loved you. Everyone in the Bullpen will know
about us now. I couldn't come out, Chief. But
it wasn't because I didn't love you.

I was listening to a Supremes song tonight and
it was perfect. So I'll tell you that love is
here and now you're gone. You made me love you
and now you're gone. Well, you get the just of it.

Take care of yourself, Blair. I loved you more
than I've ever loved anyone. Remember that. Think
of me now and then and I will do the same of you.

Blair got the phone call from Rafe and rushed to the loft. He couldn't believe Jim had done something like this. He sobbed the entire way home. Yes, it was his home.

He hurried in the front door and Simon stopped him. "Sandburg, calm down. He isn't dead. He did try and kill himself but they took him to the hospital."

Blair went into Simon's arms and had himself a good cry. Then they went to the hospital. After about nine hours, the doctor came out and told them, "He's going to be fine, but he'll be here for a while undergoing some psychological therapy."

"Good, we can't agree with you more," Simon said. "When can we see him?"

"Now is good. He's been asking for Chief?"

"That would be me." Blair smiled for the first time that day.

Simon walked down the hall to the room and said, "I think you need to talk to Jim alone. I'll be back in an hour or two."

"Thank you, Simon." Blair then walked into Jim's room.

"Chief, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."

"Love is here and now you're here, too. That's going to be our new song. You ever try something like this again, I'll follow you and beat your ass." Blair was pissed.

"I love you, Blair."

"And I love you. We're going to work on all of this. From now on we talk more and don't get so pissed off." Blair kissed Jim quickly before he sat down to begin talking about what he had done.

Yes, love was there. And it was staying.
